East to West In Circle is a set of ten gematric artwork in one colour and one black and white. By Daniyal Farhani, each work is hand-drawn with ink and mixed media applied later. They seek to capture different cultural perspectives. The Persian rug aims to reflect and capture paradise, the Japanese window screens filter and manipulate sun and daylight, and The gothic stained windows add mystical qualities to place and time. This set of artwork depicts the architectural and cultural ways of design from the Eastern to the Western approaches. Each artwork tells a timeless geometric and graphic story through careful research, analysis, and composition. In addition, each artwork reflects on how cultures and understanding of beauty have shaped our way of thinking. They aim to capture the thought process from East 18° to West 342° by reflecting on stories and design style. Currently, there are five of the ten artworks complete, including the corresponding black and white version.
